Marion (Lyon) Murray Taylor, 87, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 after complications from a sudden illness. She was born in West Terre Haute, IN to James and Christina (Duncan) Lyon. She was the youngest of nine children. She was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School. She was raised at the Indiana Masonic Home School where she lived from the age of eleven. She was known as “Aunt Mamie” by many of her nieces and nephews and as “Marin” by some adult family and friends. Marion was a skilled secretary and retired from AAA Hoosier Motor Club in 2005 after twenty-five years of service. She was also employed by the Grand Lodge F & AM of Indiana for thirty-two years. She was a fifty plus year member of the Millersville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #300. She enjoyed gardening, cooking as was an avid follower of the Royal Family.
Survivors include her loving son Steven Murray of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter Kaitlyn; a sister Christina Lyon Turner of Middleburg Heights, OH; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; late husbands Edward Murray and William Taylor; brothers James, Alexander, John; sisters Janet, Mary, Jean, and Florence Marie.
The Reverend Cleon Wright will conduct a memorial service Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 4 PM at the Ransford Chapel of the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State Street, in Franklin, IN. Friends may gather from 3PM Saturday at the Ransford Chapel till service time. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Carmel Christian Church, 2013 South West 750 South, Trafalgar, IN, or the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana, 50 East 91st Street Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN, 46240 or at www.alz.org.
