Obituary for William Carmon Cain

William Carmon  Cain
William Carmon Cain, 88, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at his residence in Indianapolis, IN. He was born March 24, 1930 in Monroe County, Kentucky to Marion Cain and Mary (Grider) Cain. He fell in love in Indianapolis, IN and married Phyllis J. Belcher on September 3, 1971.
He was a forklift operator for Peerless Pump in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He served at the 11th Field Hospital in occupied Germany as a Private First Aid Attendant. He received an occupation medal for his service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting Turkey Neck Bend, KY.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis J. (Belcher) Cain of Indianapolis, IN; a son William M. “Billy” Cain and daughter-in-law Sara (Blazer) Cain of Franklin, IN; four grandchildren William Donavan Cain (23), Joseph Connor Cain (17), Alexander Logan Cain (17), and Annabeth Adrianna Cain (11); a brother Marion Cain Jr. (Marsha) of Tompkinsville, KY; sisters Mary Elizabeth Taylor (Jimmy) of Gamaliel, KY, and Jessie Tropoulos (Pete) of Frankfort, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Tammy J. Outlaw on July 8, 2012; two brothers Tim Lee Cain and George “Possum” Kenneth Cain; and sisters Louise Graves, Sara Abbie Kerr, Julie "Judy" Evelyn Bryant, and Nellodean Dean Groce.
The Reverend Daniel Earle will conduct a service Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, where family and friends may call from 4PM till service time at the mortuary. A chapel service will follow on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11AM at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 MSH North Gate Road, in Madison, IN with the United States Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post #9 Honor Guard conducting military honors with burial to follow. Special thanks to St. Vincent Hospice workers and volunteers for all the help and care making it possible for William to be home with loved ones during his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Swartz Family Mortuary in care of Phyllis Cain to assist with any medical and funeral expenses.
