Melvin Eugene Lawson
Melvin Eugene Lawson, 83, of Greenwood, IN passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN. He was born August 11, 1934 in Morgan County, Indiana to Melvin O. Lawson and Mary Edna (Fisher) Lawson.
He married Laura Jane (Copeland) Lawson on August 21, 1992 in Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ in Clark Township, Johnson County, she preceded him in death on October 13, 2015.
He had been an over the road truck driver for Oliver and Atlas Trucking and later as an independent operator for a total of fifty years. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #252.
Survivors include his children Kevin D. Chaney (Sabrina) of Greenwood, IN, Karla D. Conway (Steve) of Greenwood, IN, and Karen D. Smyth (Shawn) of Greenwood, IN; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Myra Howe of Florida and Mary Donna Dougherty of Bengal, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Marvin Lawson.
A private family graveside service was conducted at Rocklane Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, is handling the arrangements.
