Obituary for Emma Jean (Stephens) Shank

Emma Jean (Stephens) Shank 79 of Franklin, IN. went home to her savior in the arms of her loving husband Russell E. Shank on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin. She was born August 10, 1938 in Sand Springs, KY to Elmer and Beulah (McClure) Stephens. She married Russell E. Shank on April 17, 1971 at Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, IN, he survives.
She had been a bookkeeper for Matlock Ford, Spears Automotive, and Dale Cooper. She was a member of Blue River Baptist Church in Edinburgh, IN. She enjoyed playing the guitar and performing at various health care facilities and church. She and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Florida and fishing. Family was very important to her and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband Russell E. Shank of Franklin, IN, children Randy W. Blackwell of Englewood, FL, Shelia A. Hood (Tom) of Franklin, IN, and Dawn Surface (Richard) of Bargersville, IN; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings James Lester Stephens, Charles Stephens, Betty Donoho, Mary Ferrill, and Martha Cheek.
Pastor Justin Surface will conduct a service Monday, March 5, 2018 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin where friends may call from 11AM till service time Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 50 East 91st Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN, 46209-4830 or at www.alz.org/indiana.
