Joan Frances (Weiss) Goeb, age 82, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. She was born December 13, 1935 in Pottsville, PA to Geraldine (Cullen) Weiss. She married Robert “Bob” A. Goeb April 15, 1956 at Hamilton Air Force Base, San Rafael, CA. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2008.
Joan and Bob were both Veterans of the U. S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. She was a loving mother to four boys and was primarily a homemaker. For several years, she managed the License Branch in Griffith, IN and continued to work for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Indianapolis, IN until her retirement in 1987. She and Bob enjoyed many happy years in retirement traveling extensively, golfing, and living in Fairfield Glade, TN. The couple later returned to Franklin where Joan became active in the Franklin Senior Center and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin, IN. In addition to traveling and golf, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bird watching, and was always up for a card game - - especially pinochle. She loved God and was a happy soul.
Survivors include her four sons Robert A. Goeb (Jody) of Wilton, CA, Thomas W. Goeb of Battle Creek, MI, Ronald B. Goeb (Beth) of Franklin, IN, and Donald M. Goeb (Eva) of Franklin, IN; Grandchildren Christopher Goeb (Nikki) of Whiteland, IN, Craig Goeb (Nicole) of Schoolcraft, MI, Donald Goeb II (Miranda) of Hickam AFB, HI, Stephanie Goeb of Firebaugh, CA, Emily Fricke (Rob) of Lafayette, IN, Hannah Goeb of Franklin, IN, and Alayne Rooney (Michael) of Wilton, CA; great-grandchildren Alexis Franklin, Riley Franklin, Brooklyn Franklin, R. J. Fricke, Isaac Fricke, Harper Goeb, Henley Goeb, Lily Goeb, and Mikey Goeb. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Harriet Smith, Schererville, IN, Marion Goeb, St. John, IN; Siblings William Weiss (Janet) of Bethel, PA, Leona Gallen of Phoenix, AZ, Betsy Draper of Smyrna, DE, and Ruth Leininger of Haddon Twp, NJ; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her mother; a sister Jackie Gerlach; her very dear aunt and uncle Ruth and Bill Yost, mother-in-law Elsie Goeb, and several loving sisters and brothers-in-law.
An informal time or remembrance between family and friends will take place at Community Congregational Church, 4592 N. Hurricane Road, Franklin, IN, from 4pm-6pm on Friday, February 23, 2018. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Joan H. Mier, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:30am at Immanuel Church of Christ, 2201 Azalea Drive, Highland, IN 46322 with military honors to follow. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until time of service at the church. Internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Franklin Senior Center, 160 East Adams Street, Franklin, IN, 46131.
