Obituary for Shirley A. (Johnson) Kennedy

Shirley A. (Johnson) Kennedy, 81, of Trafalgar, IN, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community in Franklin, IN. She was born June 8, 1936 in North Vernon, IN to Frank and Belle (Detraz) Johnson. She married Hollis L. Kennedy on June 13, 1954 at the New Palestine United Methodist Church, he survives.
Shirley had been a purchasing agent for Hurco in Indianapolis, IN. She had also been a professional beauty operator and auctioneer. She enjoyed fishing and was an excellent seamstress.
Survivors include her husband Hollis L. Kennedy of Trafalgar, IN; daughter Lorri L. Burris (Jim) of Trafalgar, IN; granddaughter Natalie Burris of Morgantown, IN; and a great-grandson Saxon Long of Morgantown, IN.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Julia Marie Westcott; grandchildren Brandi Neal, Holli Neal, Vonni Westcott, and Joshua Westcott, all on December 21, 1988; her parents Frank and Belle (Detraz) Johnson; and a brother Jackie Johnson.
The Reverend Tom Knight will conduct a service on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN where friends may call from 4PM till service time at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN, 46240 or at www.alz.org/indiana.
