Benjamin Hill Fendley
Benjamin Hill Fendley, 95, of the Franklin United Methodist Community passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He was born February 10, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN to Benjamin Franklin Fendley and Nellie Flora (Hill) Fendley. He married Anna B. (Borden) Fendley on August 16, 1947 at Edwin Ray United Methodist Church in the Fountain Square area of Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on April 27, 2013. He had lived in Indianapolis, IN, Beech Grove, IN, Sweetwater Lake in Nineveh, IN and in Franklin, IN. He was a former member of Edwin Ray United Methodist Church, and along with his late wife taught Sunday school classes at Beech Grove United Methodist Church and the Church of the Lakes in Nineveh. He heroically served in the United States Navy during World War II on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater. Ben was a Boy Scout Leader. He was a state fair champion scroll saw artist. He loved photography and digital scrapbooking. He contributed both of these talents to both Walmart and the Franklin United Methodist Community. He never met a stranger. He retired as an outside sales associate for Joint and Clutch in Indianapolis, IN, and Walmart.
Survivors include two sons; Craig Fendley (Margie) of Summerville, SC, and Clint Fendley (Jan) of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Josh Fendley (Anna) of Cincinnati, OH, Gabe Fendley of Istanbul, Turkey, Matt Fendley of Charleston, SC, and Joy Fendley of Seattle, WA; and great-grandchildren Jameson, Grant and Grace Fendley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
A visitation will take place Friday, February 10, 2017 from 9AM till 10AM at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN, with a celebration of Ben’s life from 10AM till 11AM at the Wright Chapel. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN, 46131.
