Obituary for
Evalyne B. Hinsch (McGee)
Evalyne B. (McGee) Hinsch, 105, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Clearvista Lake Health Campus in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in the heart of Bourbon country in Maud, Kentucky.
Evalyne was raised by her grandparents on a farm in Mt. Washington, KY and developed a taste for a variety of vegetables. She made a one mile walk to school, which had a single room. Evalyne spent time with her mother designing and sewing hats at the millinery shop where her mother worked. When she was 16, Evalyne’s grandparents sent her to Indianapolis to live with her father. Evalyne worked with her father at Van Kamp’s and was subsequently employed by several department stores, including L.S. Ayres and Company. She retired from the Men’s Department of L.S. Ayres and Company for nineteen years of service.
Evalyne was a daughter of the late Arthur and Angelyn Parrish McGee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Hinsch, her son Rodney Hinsch, two brothers, Orien Lloyd Yates and Wakey Yates; and two sisters Ann Sterling Johnson and Rae Erma Watkins.
Evalyne is survived by her nephews Orien Yates (Lorna) and Jeffery Kirk (Kathy); her nieces Jan Ann Scott (David) of Owensboro, KY, and Linda Nugent (Jerry).
The family would like to thank the loving caregivers at Heartland Hospice Services for their kind and attentive service to Evalyne in the last months of her life. The family also wants to express sincere appreciation to Kevin Nassiri, Sandy Kleine, and Sue Lutz for their long friendship with and care of Evalyne.

Chaplain Jeffrey Higgins will conduct a service on Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, with visitation Tuesday from 1PM till service time at the mortuary.
