Obituary for
Rolland A. Pollert
Rolland A. Pollert, 87, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, IN. He was born Jan. 4, 1929 in Brownstown, Jackson County, IN to Albert and Lilly (Fenneberg) Pollert. He married Virginia A. Hastings on June 19, 1965 in Sandborn, IN, she survives.
He was raised on a farm in Brownstown along with his siblings. He was confirmed at the St. John’s Sauers Lutheran Church in Brownstown, IN and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Franklin, IN. He worked for the Indiana Military Department of the Indiana National Guard at Stout Field in Indianapolis and Camp Atterbury. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard and Indiana National Guard Reserve. Rolland farmed for forty-five years outside of Franklin, IN. He enjoyed helping his children with their 4-H cattle projects. He was a member of the Johnson County Beef Cattle Association, National Beef Cattle Association and the Johnson County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife Virginia A. (Hastings) Pollert of Franklin, IN; three daughters Johannah H. Pollert (Kevin) Weber of Greenwood, IN, Janet S. (Eric) Vatland of Spring, TX, and Heidi L. Baca (Raphael) of Greenwood, IN; special son Matt N. (Kim) Davis of Franklin, IN; grandchildren Hannah N. Vatland, Erin E. Vatland, and Lily G. Vatland all of Spring, TX, Camilla N. Baca of Greenwood, IN, Lauren Davis of Franklin, IN; and granddaughter Amber (Jason) Kephart of Whiteland, IN; and great-grandchildren Brayton Cranfill, Jayden Chance, Weston Chance, and Bryce Kephart; siblings Evelyn Luecke of Seymour, IN, Francis Holle of Seymour, IN, Dorothy Gray of North Port, FL, Leslie (Alice) Pollert of Waverly, IN, and Alan (Polly) Pollert of Brownstown, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Willis; sister Irene Pollert; niece Dr. Jill Buck, and great-nephews Branson and Aiden Buck.
The Rev. Roger Daene and the Rev. Colonel Eric Ebb (Ret.) will conduct a service Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 South Morton Street, in Franklin. Friends may call Thursday, September 15, 2016, 4 to 8 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, and Friday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
