I will never forget the first tme I took Penny to Hobby Lobby. Her eyes lit up like a kids in a candy store! She immediately declared it one of her favorite stores and we laughed about how thrilled Robert would be with all the money she would be spending there. One of the last outtings we had together was a shopping trip to Hobby Lobby. Penny was so excited that she found all the stuff she was looking for to make Jacqui a wreath for her door and she finally found the chargers she had been looking for for her dinner table. The feathered boas she was using for Jacquis wreath were molting and she said she was going to have to hairpray them to keep them from molting more. I laughed, I had never heard of that before. Penny could always bring me joy and I am so honored and priveleged to be able to say she was my friend. She is truly missed.

Penny told me they built a building called the Victory Center next to the church. I told her that if I were standing outside of the building with her and a number of people, I would point to the building and say, "This is a building." Then I would point to Penny and say, "Now, THIS is the Victory Center." She lived it in her walk with God - undeniably.

Penny was and will always be an inspiration to all that she knew. I know that she will always be a part of who I am today and in the future. She was always a ray of sunshine and I hope that everyone that she touched will remember her and let that part of her shine through in their lives. I know it will always be a part of mine. WHAT CAN I SAY THAT EVERYONE ELS HASN'T SAID ALREADY, PENNY HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION IN MY LIFE, AND MY MOTHER( MARY SMITH) LIFE. MOM STARTED DIALYSIS IN DECEMBER OF 2010, WE DIDN'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO, OR HOW TO GO ABOUT IT. PENNY SAT NEXT TO MOM, AND WE GOT TALKING TO HER, AND SHE HAS BEEN LIKE FAMILY TO US. Story shared: Penny's first painting lesson

Recently Penny shared with me that she has wanted to start painting classes for some time, but just hadn't found that right one yet, so I invited her to go to mine. She showed up this past Tuesday with a suitcase of stuff, and she was so excited about her first class. She had paints, and boards, and beautiful drawings that she referred to as "just doodles" that were stunning. After we went through the suitcase and decided what she really needed for class we were off! She loved her class. She was painting a picture from one of her "doodles" and already we could see it was going to be great. She told me on the way to class that Robert had only one request for her that night. He had said, "all I ask is make it something we can actually see, and not one of those impression type paintings." By the end of her first class she had a beautiful stormy sky painted, and just to be ornery, I asked her to tell Robert, "this picture is violets in a storm." I'm not sure what she ended up telling Robert, but I know she texted me afterwards and told me how Robert was so proud of her work, and he was ready to frame it, although all she had was a sky so far. I'm so sorry she won't get to finish her painting, but I'm thrilled that I was part of that first painting class, and I'm sure that she is now experiencing more beauty than any of us can even imagine.

I first met Penny when she was 19 years old and she came to talk with me at IU Hospital about dialysis. I remained her social worker for many years. She was an incredible person who accomplished so much despite chronic health problems. She was always most proud of her family, Rob and Jackie, who brought her much happiness. It saddened me to see Penny change on the outside--illness is so cruel--but she remained the same sweet person I had met all those years ago. I will never forget her or her family. Rob and Jackie, I hope you have some moments of peace and comfort in the good memories, even as you must grieve. I will be thinking of you as you make your way through these first sad days without Penny.

Penny Horsley is a very strong woman. Her smile lit up a room and she made all people welcome into her home and her heart. Her outward expression of faith in Our Lord is such that one can only hope to have the quality of faith she embraced. Back in the early '80's Penny was a member of our church, church secretary, neighbor, and sometimes baby sitter for us. She was an inspiration even back then and Jackie was a playmate to our children, Adam and Hope. You could see the glow on her face as she talked about Robert and Jackie. It was also evident she had an abiding faith. We are sorrowful to learn of her passing and will be remembering her loving family in our prayers.

Yesterday We lost one of the most incredible, selfless, beautiful blessings I personally believe God ever created. My Cousin Penny! She will be missed here on earth, but only a thought away. Heaven was truly blessed with the Angel they received yesterday. She was a Great Mom, wife, Cousin, best friend to any and all. Every time I think of her she has a smile on her face, and I find myself smiling back. I am Thankful for Her and for every conversation weather on the phone or in person it always ended with I Love You!!! Penny you will be missed, but NEVER forgotten!! I Love You.
