Obituary for Joseph F. Shimek

Joseph F. Shimek, 67, of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Auburn, IN passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born January 24, 1952 in Aurora, IL to Joseph and Helen (Kokesh) Shimek. He married Linda S. (Dublo) Shimek on April 12, 1975 in Fenton, MO, she survives.
Joseph was the co-owner of MacDonald Machinery in Ft. Wayne, IN with locations in Indianapolis, South Bend, and Lafayette for 43 years, retiring in 2014. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn, IN. He enjoyed drag racing, trains, steam engines, visiting light houses, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Linda S. (Dublo) Shimek of Greenwood, IN; his daughter Stacy Harmon and son-in-law Royce Harmon of Franklin, IN; grandchildren Brady Harmon, Bobby Harmon, and Austin Harmon; his mother Helen (Kokesh) Shimek of Mendota, IL; two sisters Ann Harris of Dearborn, MO. and Jan Kahl of Mendota, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Shimek; and two brothers-in-law Mark Harris and Robert Kahl.
Monsignor Mark Svarczkopf will conduct a service on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Monday, May 27, 2019 from 2PM till 6PM at the mortuary where a Rosary Service will be at 6PM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
