Obituary for Lela Delpha Harmon (Thompson)

Lela Delpha (Thompson) Harmon, 89, of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin, IN. She was born December 29, 1929 in Cub Run, Kentucky to Chester Levi Thompson and Mary Hannah (Butler) Thompson. She married Hanly Pirtle Harmon on August 6, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN, he preceded her in death on November 19, 2017.
She owned and operated Harmon’s Construction Cleaning Services in Greenwood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cooking, canning, gardening, making pot holders, working puzzles, doing word searches, and listening to country music. She loved her “Hugs” and you couldn’t visit her without getting one.
Survivors include her children John Harmon (Roseanna) of Greenfield, IN, Stephen Harmon (Therese) of Greenwood, IN, Sandra Lawson of Greenwood, IN, Carolyn Dragoo (Mike) of Franklin, IN, Becky A. Irvin (Jim) of Greenwood, IN, and Holly Belton (John) of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren Heather, Tanya, Joe, Sheri, Brandi, Courtney, Joel, Abby, Justin, Josh, Ethan, and Steve; thirteen great-grandchildren, and a sister Rhynettia Kite of Greenwood, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers Haskel Thompson and Clifton Thompson; two sisters Peggy Shelly and Betty Pauline Higginbotham.
Reverend Brad Hicks will conduct a service on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 4PM till 8PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
