Obituary for Evelyn Leach
Evelyn Leach, 96, of Franklin, IN passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community. She was born February 23, 1923 in Grant County, IN to Burr and Lacy (Secrest) Leach.
Evelyn was a graduate of Bowling Green High School in Ohio and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. She was an Alpha Phi Sorority member and a 70 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Upland, IN. She was also past president in 1962 and 1963 of the Women’s Insurance Association in Cleveland, OH.
Survivors include three nieces Carol Chilcote (Arden-deceased) of Franklin, IN, Jacki Frey (Bruce) of Bloomington, IN, Sondra Crow (Lowell) of Bloomington, IN; and a nephew Carl Helms (Dori) of Charleston, SC; great-nieces Lisa Kujawski (Lou) of Hope, IN, Christa Carroll of Potsdam, NY, Rochelle Torke (Karl) of Berkeley, CA, and Elizabeth Frey of San Rafael, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Joseph Leach, Tom Leach, Paul Leach, Dale Leach; a sister Gladys Helms; and her best friend Penelope Carnahan on October 10, 2010.
A private inurnment will take place at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana.
