Obituary for Marvin Ray Rodgers
Marvin Ray Rodgers, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN. He was a resident of Greenwood, Indiana and former resident of Columbus and Warsaw, Indiana.
Marvin was born October 11, 1938 in Bedford, Indiana to Luthella D. and Evelyn (Stultz) Rodgers, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1956 and attended Indiana Central College. He retired as a sales and marketing representative for Dalton Foundries in Warsaw, where he had worked for seven years, and he previously worked for both Golden Foundry and Cummins in Columbus. Marvin enjoyed woodworking, model trains, and spending time with his grandchildren. He dearly loved his dog Max, who was his constant companion throughout his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor M. (Shepherd) Rodgers, whom he married on June 6, 1959 in Franklin, IN., son Terry R. Rodgers (Rebekah) of Crockett, Texas, and daughters Kimberly Rodgers-Weeks (whose husband Tim is deceased) and Angela Conoley (Chris) of Franklin, IN., as well as nine grandchildren: Amanda Maitland (Matt); Jon Rodgers (Vanessa); Mackenzie Weeks Mahoney (Michael); Spencer and Madeleine Weeks; Caitlyn, William (Anna), Phillip, and Kristen Conoley; and seven great-grandchildren. Marvin is also survived by his brother Lonnie Rodgers (whose wife Eddie is deceased) and sister Doretta Trent (Jim) of Columbus, IN., and sister Janet Doles (Don) of North Carolina.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center at 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN., and a service will be held at 3:30PM. A private burial for immediate family will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Camp Kesem, a charity near and dear to the heart of his youngest granddaughter, Madeleine.
