Obituary for Sue F. Ison
Sue F. Ison, 80, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community. She was born June 12, 1938 in Letcher, Kentucky to Manus and Mary (Watts) Ison. She married James E. Ison on September 22, 1961 in Clintwood, Virginia, he preceded her in death on April 30, 2008.
She was a graduate of Stuart Robinson High School in Letcher County, Kentucky, the University of Pikeville, and received her Master’s in Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She had been a Language Arts teacher at Northside Junior High School in Columbus, IN for 35 years retiring in 1993. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Hallie, Kentucky joining at the age of 14. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her daughter Patricia A. Foreman (Bruce W.) of Franklin, IN; two grandchildren Matthew Foreman of Chicago, IL, and Mary Elizabeth Foreman of Franklin, IN, a sister Margie Sexton (Roy) of Indianapolis, IN, a brother David Ison of North Vernon, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Robert Ison and Manus Ison Jr.; and sisters Martha Lee Ison and Mary Lou Blair.
The Reverend David Mark Owens will conduct a celebration of life service on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, where there will be a time of gathering from 12 Noon Sunday till service time. Inurnment will take place in Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, IN.
