Obituary for Merrill Lester Fulmer

Merrill Lester Fulmer, 91, lifelong resident of White River Township, Greenwood, IN passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 19, 1927 at the family farm in White River Township to Lester Carl Fulmer and Flora Jane (Plummer) Fulmer. He married Betty Ann (Orebaugh) Fulmer on July 25, 1952 in Camby, IN, she survives.
He was a 1945 graduate of Center Grove High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served on the U.S.S. Princeton and the U.S.S. Bennington. He had worked at D.A. Lubricants in Indianapolis, IN for 15 years. He previously had worked at the Indianapolis Stock Yards, and was a diesel mechanic at MacAllister Machinery and Casey Construction both in Indianapolis, IN. He also had worked part-time at Dannemiller True Value Hardware in Greenwood, IN.
He was a lifelong member of Bluff Creek Christian Church in Greenwood, IN and a 50 year member of Bargersville Masonic Lodge #679. He enjoyed fishing, working and tinkering, and spending the winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Survivors include his wife Betty Ann (Orebaugh) Fulmer of Greenwood, IN; a son Carl Merrill Fulmer and a daughter-in-law Peggy Ann (Findley) Fulmer of Greenwood, IN; a daughter Donna Lynne (Fulmer) Lucas of Greenwood, IN; four grandchildren Andrew Fulmer (Crystal Carson Fulmer), Ryan Fulmer, (Crystal Walthall) Fulmer, Matthew Lucas (fiancé Kristin Maggard), and Casey Lucas; nine great-grandchildren Drhea Carson (Joey Collier), McKenzie Carson, Chris Fulmer, Joey Fulmer, Addyson Amick, Cohen Fulmer, Ella Fulmer, Elijah Fulmer, and Elias Lucas; and a great-great-grandson Memphis Collier; one brother James “Jim” Fulmer of Greenfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Bayard Fulmer and John Fulmer.
Pastors Stan Icenogle, Ryan Fulmer, and Lee Ladd will conduct a service on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Friday, February 8, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
