Obituary

Kimberly M. (Wilson) Walton, 75, of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Ernest Jewel and Oralee Wilson on February 22nd, 1943 in a small house in Southport IN, while her new big brothers James and Rondall stood outside in the cold throwing rocks at the house.
The family moved to Boise, Kentucky where she lived until she was orphaned at 11 years old. She moved back to Indiana and lived with her older sister and brother-in-law Erma and Jack Byrum, whom she considered as her parents and their children (David, Kathy and Doug) her extended siblings. She Graduated From Greenwood High School in 1961 and married Kenneth Ray Gay the following year and was blessed with two sons Anthony and Timothy. She moved to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and lived with her sister Barbara Evans and Col. Sterns while her husband served in the Army. In 1968 she became a widow, when she lost her husband in Vietnam. She met Ernest Robert Walton in 1969 and married him in 1971. They both went to school for cosmetology and had a thriving business called Touch of Magic beauty salon. They worked very hard and one year later were surprised with a daughter Tiffany, while her sons stood outside the hospital screaming “put her back”.
As you know, life changes after sixteen years of marriage, she decided to move back to Indiana dragging teenage Tiffany kicking and crying all the way to her brother James and sister-in-law Sharon's home. She adjusted to her new life and worked very hard toward her goals. She was employed by the Perry Township School District until in 2008.
Along the way, she shared laughs, love, and life with an amazing man, Leon Myers until he crossed over to be with Jesus in 2017. She had a servants heart and would make everyone feel comfortable and at ease with their surroundings.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest Jewel and Oralee Wilson; and her brothers and sisters, Charles Wilson, Erma Byrum, Barbra Evans, Evon Gowan, Rondell Wilson, James Wilson, and Jerry Wilson.
Survived by her children Anthony Walton (Tracy) of Buckhorn, Kentucky, Timothy Walton (Marita) of Enterprise, Alabama and Tiffany Walls (Brian) of Indianapolis IN; eight grandchildren, Robert Cooley Walton, Katera Walton, Brandon Kaup, Steven Evans, Sam Walton, Rebbecca Walton, Kansas Coty Walls, Cameron Walls; and five great-grandchildren and one on the way.
The Reverend David Mark Owens will conduct a service on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.

Kim and my Mom Mary Rich were best of friends clear back to my early childhood, when they both attended beauty school together. Kim, Tony and Tim became our family in the late 60’s and shortly after came Tiffany. Our families were so close, so much so I called Kim my Aunt Kim and my Mom was their Aunt Mary; and it still remains to this day. Aunt Kim was always so loving, caring and always their in time of need. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for her family and friends. She was very energetic, outgoing and loved to spend time with her family making memories. She was there for me in a way that nobody else could be when my Mom went home to be with The Lord. I’m going to miss hearing her voice over the phone for our checking-in on one another and her summer visits just hanging out by the pool. If there is one thing that I can say is Tony, Tim and Tiffany, your Mom lived her life loving all of you unconditionally and she was so very proud of each one of you! God truly blessed all three of you with the best mommy in this world! I know that in this life I was truly blessed and honored to be a part of your family. My heart is sadden that I will no longer hear or see Aunt Kim, but she truly lives on inside my heart and her reflection and love lives on thru her children Tony, Tim and Tiffany. I love you all so much and I am always here for you always! All my love and prayers, Terri Mountjoy

I have fond memories of my Aunt Kim. Growing up together in the same household, she was more like a big sister to me, than an Aunt. She kept me in line in my pre-teens (kinda), and she gave me guidance during my teens. I love her so. She was a beautiful woman. I'm comforted in knowing she is in heaven with all of her brothers and sisters now having one heck of a reunion party. Our condolences to the kids. Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with you. Kim had a spirit of hospitality that made me feel a welcome addition to the family when I married Leon's brother Ray Meyer. It is said that God gives us our family and allows us to choose our friends ... I would have chosen Kim as a friend every day of the week. We had such fun getting together for lunch after Leon was gone. We spent many hours laughing together as we reminisced. Thanx to Tiffany for allowing me to join the family on Thursday ... Kim loved Elvis. His gospel CD was playing and we were singing along with him ... during "The Old Rugged Cross" she left us to meet Our Lord Jesus face to face in heaven. RIP Kim! My heartfelt sympathies to the family "Sing to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Psalm 30:4-5 NIV Anita Reasoner-Meyer
