Obituary for Winifred J. "Winnie" McPherson (Noble)

Winifred J. “Winnie” (Noble) McPherson, 80, of Greenwood, IN passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at her residence in Greenwood, IN. She was born January 24, 1938 in French Lick, Indiana to Roscoe and Alice (Charnes) Noble. She married Gary Norman McPherson on March 10, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN, he preceded her in death on April 15, 2013.
She was a graduate of Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, IN. She and her late husband Gary N. McPherson, started and operated the Outdoorsman Sports Shop on State Road 135 in Greenwood in 1976 and retired in the early 2000’s when their son Doug McPherson succeeded the ownership and operation to this day.
She was a former member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood. She and her late husband were also longtime residents of the Lamb Lake Community in southern Johnson County, she also enjoyed reading, spending time with the family, and was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. “Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.”
Survivors include her three children Sherry L. Trowbridge (Don) of Greenwood, IN, Becky J. McPherson of Greenwood, IN, and Doug McPherson (Kay) of Greenwood, IN; six grandchildren Kyle Trowbridge (Trena) of Indianapolis, IN, Katie Trowbridge (fiancé Erick Wilkinson) of Indianapolis, IN, Nicole Sheffer (Don) of Valparaiso, IN, Natalie Williamson of Greenwood, IN, Matt McPherson of Greenwood, IN, and Kenzie McPherson of Greenwood, IN; two great-grandchildren Kempton Yeager and Halle Valdes; and a brother Randy Noble of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gary N. McPherson; and a brother Ronald Noble.
The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Friday, January 11, 2019 from 3PM till 8PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
