Alice M. (Ragsdale) Edwards Betts, 83. passed away December 30, 2010 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama; she was a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, and formerly a lifelong resident of Franklin. She was born January 6, 1927 in Mooresville, Indiana to Cort A. Ragsdale and Emma J. (Chenoweth) Ragsdale. She was a 1945 graduate of Trafalgar High School and had served as a clerk in Superior Court Two at the Johnson County Court House after many years of service. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and the Order Of The Eastern Star #104 in Franklin.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Blake (Charlie) of Shelbyville, Indiana and Brenda Waltman (Richard) of Madison, Alabama; a sister, Mary Lou Wheatley (Burch) of Harvest, Alabama; two stepsons, William David Betts (Robin) of Franklin and Robert Betts of Franklin; grandchildren Brent Sisson (Kelly) of Trafalgar, Indiana, Ginnie York (Jason) of Franklin, Bradley Sisson (Ashley) of Bargersville, Matthew Waltman of Madison, Alabama, Erin Waltman of Madison, Alabama, Benji Betts (Allie) of Franklin, and Eli Betts (Robin) of Franklin; seven great grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, Cody, Hunter, Cohen, Landry, and Grayson; a niece, Debra Little of Harvest, Alabama; and nephew Douglas Wheatley (Karen) of New Market, Alabama. She was preceded in death by husbands Fred Edwards in May of 1978 and Gerald Noble Betts in February of 1994, and two sisters, Virginia Ragsdale and Miriam Ragsdale.
The Reverend Robert Coleman will conduct a service Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 in Franklin. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 A.M. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
