Pauline Isobel (Alexander) Copeland, 90 of rural Clark Township, Johnson County, IN, has been called home to rest for eternity in the arms of her Creator.
Pauline passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at her home on the farm she shared with her husband, Dale Copeland of 68 years who preceded her in death on September 11, 2018.
Pauline was born in Veedersburg, IN on January 31, 1928 to Walter and Salom (Smith) Alexander
Dale and Pauline were married on December 30, 1949 at Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ just outside of Acton.
They moved to their family farm in 1956. Pauline worked as the librarian at Clark Elementary School for many years until she retired in 1993.
She was very active in Pleasant Valley Church and took her faith with her everywhere she went. She had a servant’s heart and volunteered at Saint Francis Hospital making others’ days brighter.
While librarian was her official occupation, she spent more time in her role as a farmer’s wife. She hauled meals to fields for years, drove tractors across countless acres, and shuttled wagons and tired farmers between fields. She said her biggest life accomplishment was marrying a farmer and living on a farm.
Pauline loved her garden and spent hours in it each summer tending it to produce food she canned and froze. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cards. Pauline was a breast cancer survivor.
Pauline was a member of the E S A Sorority and attended regular bible studies.
Pauline was a humble woman and claimed her legacy was her family. She and Dale had three children. Surviving are sons Steve Copeland (Becky) of Clark Township, IN., Randy Copeland (Lisa) of Alma, IL., son in law Mike Downey (Kim) of Bluffton, IN.; six grandchildren: Kim Kohne (Jeff) of Ellettsville, IN, Jason Downey (Tracy) of Bluffton, IN, Rodney Copeland of Fairland, IN, Whitney Cole (Mark) of Paxton, IL, Shane Copeland of Cape Town, South Africa, and Lindsey Copeland of Indianapolis, IN; 16 great grandchildren: Michiael, Logan, Kailey, Angel, Corban, Tegan, Esther, and Xavier Downey, Joshua and Samuel Kohne, Robert, Ava, and Stephen Copeland, Oliver Cole, Lilly and Elijah Music, and a sister Linda Alexander of Greenwood, IN.
