Obituary for Loran K. Petro

Loran K. Petro, 85, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Decatur Township Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was born October 21, 1933 in Bartholomew County, IN to Leslie and Osla (Slevins) Petro. He married Josephine Ann (Mozee) Petro on June 6, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on June 4, 2002.
He had owned and operated full service petroleum and automotive Shell stations at Shelby St. & Raymond St, Madison Avenue & Pleasant Run Parkway, and a Sunoco station at East St. & Raymond St. all in Indianapolis, IN. He later worked for Walker’s Hatchery in Greenwood, IN for 10 years. He enjoyed watching horse racing, Indy car racing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children Donna J. Taft (Bob) of Camby, IN, Loran Petro Jr. (Carol) of Indianapolis, IN, and Francis “Pete” Petro (Peggy) of Valparaiso, IN; eight grandchildren Angie Rushing (Jeremiah), PJ Taft (Stacey), Steven Taft, Bobby Taft, Ryan Taft, Adam Petro, Benjamin Petro (Ana), and Annie Petro (Nate); six great-grandchildren Lydia Taft, Gunner Taft, Emmie Rushing, Graeme Rushing, Hunter Petro and Macy Walker; sisters Courine Lyles (Willie) of Brownsburg, IN, and Wanda Weekley of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson Bubby Petro on November 1, 2015; brothers Leon Albert Petro, Wilford Petro, Norman Petro; sisters Cecelia Mitchell and Margie Petro.
Pastor Billy Gott will conduct a service on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, where friends may call from 11AM till service time at the mortuary.
