Harold E. Townsend, 74, of Franklin, IN went to be in the presence of his heavenly father on Sunday, October 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 16, 1943 in Beech Grove, IN to William Garrett Townsend and Etta A. (Adams) Townsend. He married Judith A. “Judi” (Yocum) on August 8, 1964 in Kokomo, IN, she survives.
Harold was a 1961 graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis, IN. He had been employed by Eli Lilly and Company for 30 years, retiring in 1993 from the telecommunications division. He previously had worked for American States Insurance and United Parcel Service. He was a member of Christian Chapel Church in Morgantown, IN and was a former longtime member of Franklin Memorial Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Judith “Judi” A. (Yocum) Townsend of Franklin, IN; two daughters Tamara A. Hoffmann (Ron) of Franklin, IN, and Teresa L. Buck (Michael L.) of Franklin, IN; a sister Barbara S. McKeel (Edwin “Dick”) of Greenwood, IN; five grandchildren, Kody G. Buck, Brandon Hoffmann, Lauren Hoffmann, Erika Hoffmann, and Olivia Hoffmann; nieces and nephews Pam and Jim Brown of Greenwood, IN, and Tim and Kathy McKeel of Indianapolis, IN; great nieces and nephews Stephanie McKeel, Robert McKeel (Beverly), Candice Wehmeier (Brad), Samuel Brown, and Camille Brown; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Kaleb M. Buck on April 8, 2016; and a great-nephew Jimmy Brown on April 3, 1994.
The Reverend Larry McAdams will conduct a service celebrating the life of Harold E. Townsend on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 3PM till 8PM at the mortuary and Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 9:30AM till service time. Burial will be in Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
