Doris I. Thomas, 90, of Franklin, IN, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin, IN. She was born October 2, 1927 in South Bend, IN, to Floyd and Irene (Leffert) Thomas. During the depression, the family moved to Logansport, IN.
Doris was a graduate of Washington Township High School. She moved to Franklin, IN in 1954. She had been employed for Franklin Bank and Trust later becoming Key Bank at her retirement. She was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin, IN. She loved working in her yard and many flower beds. In winter time, she enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and phoning friends.
Survivors include her sister Angela Beall (Bob) of Twelve Mile, IN; nephews John Thomas, James Beall, and Chris Beall. She also had a large family related by choice; including Linda Teter who was like a daughter to her, of Franklin, IN, whom she had known all of her life, Mary Jo Arney of Shelbyville, IN, James B. Jordan of North Manchester, IN, Jim Bradley of Trafalgar, IN, and the next door neighbors, the Aguilar Family.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Thomas, dear friends Edelle Mulkins and Wilma Bostic.
The Reverend Evie Stuard will conduct a service Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
