Husband, father, Marine, Vietnam Veteran, protector of animals, and, devoted family man, Ronal Dean Shaw, 71, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, August 4, 2018. “I will be around you whenever the wind blows, the rain falls, when the sun shines, and in the beautiful night sky.”

Ron was born November 13, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN and grew up as a kid riding Schwinn bicycles with playing cards on the spokes in the late 1950s, to growing up fast and joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 to participate in combat in Vietnam. He graduated from Franklin Community High School and immediately went into the Marine Corps. After Ron’s tour of duty was completed in Vietnam, he married Carolyn Spearman, the love of his life. They were married on Sept. 28, 1968 in Franklin, IN for this year would be their 50th year of marriage. Ron and Carolyn started a family in the 1980s with the birth of their daughter Adriane Crabtree in 1981 and Alex Shaw in 1982. Fond family memories include eating pizza, and watching Star Trek every Saturday night, and going to rent movies to watch as a family. Ron’s all-time favorite movies include The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and Platoon. Ron was a longtime blue-collar worker, with most of his tenure in welding and line-work at the former Arvin Franklin plant for more than 20 years.

The Shaw family requests those who knew Ron to reflect on your personal encounters with him and think of him fondly.

Shaw and daughter-in-law Sarah Shaw of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Adriane E.
