Charles E. Hicks, 87, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. He was born May 21, 1931 in Casey County, Liberty, KY to James Mart Hicks and Daisy Opal (Malone) Hicks. He married, and is survived by, his wife Barbara A. (Winkler) Hicks of Franklin, IN on October 1, 1949 in Franklin, IN.
Charles had worked for Arvin Automotive in Franklin, IN for over 45 years having served in various positions including welding and setup. He was a member of the Columbus American Legion Post #24 and Columbus Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1987. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include his wife Barbara A. (Winkler) Hicks of Franklin, IN; his children, Jerry W. Hicks (Mitzie) of Shelbyville, IN, Linda C. Bailey (Jim) of Sylvania, OH, Norma J. Taylor (Harold) of Fairland, IN, and Wanda J. Gentry (Harry) of Franklin, IN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Charles Wayne Hicks on November 22, 2002 and Billy J. Hicks on August 22, 2015; three brothers Harold Hicks, Dan Hicks, Junior Hicks; and three sisters Anna Wilson, Maxine Mack, and Frances Hardin.
The Reverend Tony Garris will conduct a service on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
