John Charles Wise, 98, longtime resident of Compass Park in Franklin, IN passed away Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born September 19, 1919 in Greenwood, IN to Herbert A. and Ruth Allen (VanBuren) Wise. He married Mary Jane (Thompson) Clark Wise on December 14, 1997, she preceded him in death on July 9, 2011. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and had attended college.
John was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II. He retired as a test tell technician of the research and development division of General Motors in Indianapolis, IN after 33 years. He was past master of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514 F&AM, a member of Devol Lodge #766 F&AM in Franklin, IN, and Greenwood Order of the Eastern Star #390.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law Jean Wise of Ft. Wayne, IN; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Margaret Skomp (William-deceased); brothers Herbert Wise, William Wise (Sylvia-deceased), and Allen Wise.
A Masonic service will be conducted Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 1PM at the Kresge Chapel at Compass Park, 690 South State Street in Franklin, IN with a funeral service to immediately follow being conducted by the Reverend Cleon Wright. Friends may call Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 12 Noon until service time at Kresge Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
