James Franklin "Jim" Collester
James Franklin “Jim” Collester, 78, of Franklin, IN passed away Friday, June 08, 2018 at his residence in Franklin, IN. He was born August 16, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Arthur Denton Collester and Helen Evelyn (Wolfe) Collester. He married Carol A. (Payne) Collester on February 18, 1972 at Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood, IN, she survives.
He was a United States Army Veteran. He had worked for Link Belt/ Rexnord for 33 years retiring in 2004 from the sound test bearings division. He was a member of the Catholic Faith. He enjoyed history, festivals, nature, and attending the Heartnut festival at Camp Atterbury.
Surviving is his wife Carol A. (Payne) Collester of Franklin, IN; a daughter Tamara L. Collester of Franklin, IN; five brothers Thomas Collester (Ruby) of Indianapolis, IN, Robert Collester of Indianapolis, IN, Charles Collester (Penny) of Terre Haute, IN, Francis Collester (Betty) of Louisiana, and William Collester (Edna) of Colorado; two sisters Dorothy Karamanous of Plainfield, IN and Mary Ferris (Johnny) of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother David Collester; and a brother-in-law Jim Karamanous.
The Reverends Zack Scellato, Roger Gifford, and Stan Glover will conduct a service Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 5PM till 8PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN with military honors.
