Obituary for William (Bill) Charles Gotthardt, Jr.

William (Bill) Charles Gotthardt Jr., 78, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on September 24, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to William Charles Gotthardt Sr. and Florence (Funk) Gotthardt. He married Rose Mary (Alexy) Gotthardt on June 20, 1970 in Washington Crossing, PA. Bill was a resident of Bucks County, PA until 1980 when he relocated for his job. He retired from Krohne Corporation now located in Beverly, MA as a Senior Applications Engineer. Bill was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood, IN.

Bill earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a United States Army Veteran. He had several hobbies including photography, woodworking, and traveling with his wife and family. Bill was also a member of The Climb of Greenwood, a faith based exercise program for those with Parkinson’s disease. Bill was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor and a quick smile.

Survivors include his wife Rose M. Gotthardt of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter Rebecca L. Gotthardt of Indianapolis, IN; a son Jeremy D. Gotthardt of Greenwood, IN; a brother J. Richard (Dick) Gotthardt and sister-in-law Linda Gotthardt of Dallas, TX; and a brother-in-law George M. Alexy of San Jose, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Reverend Jeff Buck will conduct a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11 am at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 West Stones Crossing Road, in Greenwood, IN. Friends may gather from 10 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 West Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, IN, 46143 or the Michael J.
