John E. Sanders, 75, of Franklin, IN passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was born March 21, 1943 in Versailles, IN to Albert D. and Sara (Miles) Sanders. He married Sandra Jean (Hash) Sanders on December 23, 1967 at 1st Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, IN, she preceded him in death on April 11, 2009.
John was a 1961 graduate of Dupont High School in Dupont, IN. He had served in the United States Army and had been employed by United Telephone Company later becoming Sprint in 2004 after 31 years of service. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #107, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Johnson County Shrine Club, Columbus Lodge #398 Loyal Order of Moose, and Franklin American Legion Post #205. He enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his son Christopher Sanders (Kelley) of Greenwood, IN; his daughter Kimberly Hrkach (Joel) of Sarasota, FL; five grandchildren Shane Masters of Surfside Beach, SC, Ryan Masters of Sarasota, FL, Natalie Sanders, Ava Sanders, and Jacob Sanders all of Greenwood, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters Margaret Thornberry, Leona Kroll, and Betty Barnsfather; brothers Leroy Sanders and Bill Sanders.
A visitation will take place Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 4PM till 8PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, where a military honors service will take place at 8PM.
