Elizabeth Marie  (Bates) Price
Elizabeth Marie (Bates) Price, 79 of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by her husband and children. She was born July 6, 1938 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis to Leonard and Margaret (Oliger) Bates. She married Bernard C. Price on July 8, 1960 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Indianapolis, he survives.
She attended St. Patrick’s grade school and was a graduate of St. John’s Academy High School and Ivy Tech and Indiana University School of Nursing. She was a retired nurse, patient care manager from Franciscan Health and Methodist Hospitals. She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reciting the rosary, eating at Bob Evans, family holidays, and her ultimate passion behind her faith was nursing. She was a 40 year survivor of Multiple Sclerosis and refused to allow it to take control of her life.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years Bernard C. Price of Indianapolis, IN; children Lillie Maze (Scott) of Greenwood, IN, Marty Price (Kim) of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew Price (Debra) of Indianapolis, IN, Eric Price (Veronica) of Indianapolis, IN, and Mary Miller (Raymond) of Williamsport, PA; sixteen grandchildren Grace Maze of Washington, D.C., Jacob Maze of Prague, Czech Republic, Abraham Maze of Evansville, IN, Joy Maze of Greenwood, IN, Olivia, Madeline, and Abbigail Miller of Hughesville, PA, Robin and Elijah Price of Indianapolis, IN, Eric and Katlyn Price of Greencastle, IN, Joshua, Nathaniel and Caleb Price of Indianapolis, IN, and Alexandria Price of Louisiana; two great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Bates of Germantown, WI; sisters Dorothy Carson (Al) of Indianapolis, IN, Bernadette and Theresa Bates of Indianapolis, IN and Catherine Souter (Rex) of Indianapolis, IN; and over 80 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by infant twin children, Jacob and Mary Price; grandchild Nicholas Price; brothers Leonard, Michael, Gerald, Paul, Patrick, Daniel and Joseph Bates; sisters Sister Mary Margaret S.P., Dolores Clarke, brother-in-law’s William Price, William Kijovsky, Leo Besse, and Paul Clark; sister-in-law’s Joan Bates, Gloria Bates, and Carole Bates; and her two beloved service dogs Woody and Ellie.
Father Glenn O’Conner will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 1P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 535 East Edgewood Avenue in Indianapolis, IN. Friends may call Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Avenue in Indianapolis, IN where a rosary service will be conducted at 7PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to ICAN (Indiana Canine Assistance Network), 5610 Crawfordsville Rd, Suite 2101, Indianapolis, IN, 46224.
