Obituary for Dr. George Bullington

Dr. George Bullington 86, of Franklin, IN,
left this world for his Heavenly Home on February 16, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born March 27, 1931 in Bedford, IN to Emmett and Lilith (Farlow) Bullington. George was raised in French Lick, IN where he was valedictorian of his class, and was an outstanding basketball player. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ann Wininger on April 22, 1950 and they raised 5 children in Franklin, IN.

A graduate of Indiana State, he received his MD from IU School of Medicine in 1958. Dr. Bullington practiced Family Medicine in Whiteland, IN for 13 years, and then returned to school to specialize in Radiology. In 1974, he became a Radiologist at Johnson Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1994.

Dr. Bullington was a member of Victory Christian Church in Franklin, IN, French Lick Masonic Lodge, and Johnson County Medical Society. He enjoyed walking, reading and supporting the Colts, Pacers, and Butler Bulldogs…..but his greatest joy was his large family.
Left to honor his life and legacy are his wife Ann, two sons; Michael George Bullington (Karen) of Franklin, IN, and Douglas Kelly Bullington (Gayla) of Franklin, IN; three daughters; Debra Ann Teets (Scott deceased) of Carmel, IN, Diane Jill Barnett (Barry deceased) of Franklin, IN, and Dana Jan Barnett (Les) of Dayton, OH. He is the proud ‘Papaw’ to 15 grandchildren: Amanda Bullington Ray (Chris), David Bullington (Susan), Matthew Bullington (Sarah), Brian Bullington, Laura Bullington Alexander (Nick), Kelly Barnett Backscheider (Mark), Tommy Bullington, Josh Barnett (Kaicy), Erin Bullington, Jason Teets, Corey Barnett (Kara), Nathan Barnett (Megan), Jessi Teets West (Ben), Krista Barnett and Leslie Anna Barnett. He has 17 great-grandchildren’ with 1 more arriving this year. He is also survived by his brother Jim Bullington of Indianapolis, IN; and a sister Annette Bullington Lewis of Green Valley, AZ.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Morning Point, Johnson Memorial Hospital, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Homeview for their care during his illness.

Calling will be at Victory Christian Church, 1720 North Graham Road in Franklin, IN from 3-6 Sunday, February 18, 2018. The Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Reverend Josh Cadwell at the church on 10:00 Monday, February 19, 2018. A private family graveside service will follow on Tuesday. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
