Condolences

Condolence From: Kathy [Garstang] Schienle
Condolence: Before he went to Broad Ripple to discipline David Letterman, Mr. Ludlow was our gym teacher at P.S. 86 in Butler-Tarkington. I was crazy about him—he was warm and encouraging and fun and fair. From him, I learned ball skills and physical competition, which girls in the late ’50s and early ’60s otherwise didn’t do. He treated us just like he did the boys. He even helped us form a girls golf team—we had all of two members—and took us to practice and to local tournaments. After high school, I moved away from Indy for a long time and moved back six years ago. I have thought fondly of Mr. Ludlow often over the years and will continue to do so.
