Obituary for James H. Goodwin

James H. Goodwin, 74, of Indianapolis, IN. passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 22, 1943 in Greensburg, IN to Forrest Gerald Goodwin and Roberta Evaline (Hunter) Goodwin. He married Norma J. (Childress) Goodwin on April 7, 1973 in Lafayette, IN, she survives. He had been a family service representative for Memory Gardens Management Corporation in Indianapolis, IN for 25 years having been associated at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN and Lincoln Memory Gardens in Zionsville, IN. He previously had been a manager for Marsh Supermarkets for 20 years.
Jim enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Santee near Greensburg, IN. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague.
Survivors include his wife Norma J. (Childress) Goodwin of Indianapolis, IN; children Marjorie Lea Ballinger (Stuart) of Hamble, England, Angela Gay Goodwin of Columbus, IN, and Peter James Goodwin (Casey) of Panama City Beach, FL; five grandchildren Jeremy Grimes (Alison), Andrew Grimes, Xander Goodwin, Landry Goodwin, Emersyn Goodwin; two great-grandchildren Declan Grimes and Brennan Grimes; a brother Forrest Gerald Goodwin (Diane) of Wisconsin; a sister Julia Moeller of Richmond, IN; a sister-in-law Carole Baxter of Lafayette, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother William Goodwin; and a sister Rosemary Clark.
The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:30PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN where friends may call from 11AM Monday till service time. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Indianapolis Office, 6415 Castleway W. Drive, Suite 114, Indianapolis, IN, 46250 or the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL, 60674.
