Obituary for Dr. Charles L. Wolff

Dr. Charles L. Wolff, 95, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. He was born on May 14, 1922 in Franklin, IN to Dr. James L. Wolff and Alma (Fleenor) Wolff. He married Edna Jean “Jeannie” (Zimmerman) Wolff on March 25, 1951 in Danville, IN, she preceded him in death on April 8, 2017.
He was a graduate of Alva Neal High School in Franklin, IN, attended Franklin College, and graduated from the Illinois School of Optometry. He was a United States Army Veteran of WW II having served in the European Theater in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He joined his father’s optometric practice, Dr. James L. Wolff in Franklin, IN and practiced for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Victory Christian Church in Franklin, IN where he had served in the past as an elder and also at the East Englewood Church of Christ in Englewood, Florida, the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, American Legion Post #205 in Franklin, IN and a former member of the Franklin Rotary Club. He enjoyed swimming, oil painting, living and spending time with his late wife in Rotonda, Florida for 17 years. His love for the Lord and his family was evident by his kind, humble and generous spirit.
Survivors include his daughter LouAnne Wheeler (Garry) of Franklin, IN; three grandchildren Abbie Kay Herschell of Indianapolis, IN, Katie Anne Herschell of Nashville, TN, and Elliot Lincoln Wolff of Hampton, TN; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son William Leslie “Les” Wolff on December 25, 2001; a grandson Bryan Philip Wolff on November 27, 2005; two brothers Dr. John Wolff, Dr. Mark Wolff, and sister Dr. Marie Wolff-Craig.
Pastor Rick Davis will conduct a service Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, where friends may call Friday from 11AM till service time at the mortuary. Burial with full military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
