Ronald L. Greene
Ronald L. Greene, 79, of Franklin, IN passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at his residence in Franklin, IN. He was born November 10, 1937 in Burtrum, MN to Charles Leslie Greene and Helen Simplicia (Nalezny) Greene. He married Sharon (Beasley) Greene, whom preceded him in death. He then married Peggy L. (Beene) Wells Greene on September 22, 2000, she survives.
He was a graduate of Mahtomedi High School in White Bear Lake, MN and attended the University of Minnesota. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 205 in Franklin, IN, Franklin Elks Club, and the VFW Post 6978 in Whiteland, IN. He was a retired air traffic controller having worked at the Indianapolis International Airport. He later owned and operated Ron Greene Replacement Windows in Jamestown, IN. He loved golfing, fishing, playing cards, hunting and traveling. He was a joy to be around due to his sense of humor, and he never met a stranger.
Surviving is his wife Peggy L. (Beene) Wells Greene of Franklin, IN; his children Kerry Bruner of Bern, NC, Mary Burket of Pittsboro, IN, Nancy Miller (Ron) of Oakie, SC, Robert Greene (Judy) of Max, IN, and Brad Greene of Washington State; Peggy’s children Rusty Wells (Mary Ann) of Indianapolis, IN, Michael Wells (Debbie) of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Stirsman (Tim) of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren Megan Bruner, Ashley Burket, Kelsey Burket, Ian Burket, Rahni Miller, Tori Miller, Maranda Miller, Travis Miller, Josh Greene, Britney Greene, Derrik Pennell, Harrison Wells, Meredith Wells, Karah Wells, Madison Stirsman, and Quinton Stirsman; two sisters Delores Long of Tempe, AZ, and Jackie Wenzel (Curt) of Amery, WI; sister-in-law Jean Greene of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces; nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon (Beasley) Greene; son Don Greene; brother Clyde Greene; son-in-law Jon Burket; grandson Jacob Greene.
The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a celebration of life service Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN where friends may call from 2PM till service time at the mortuary. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 205, Franklin. Interment will take place in Jamestown I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown, Indiana.
