Owen L. Campbell
Owen L. Campbell, 88, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin, IN. He was born March 19, 1929 in Owensboro, KY to Lenard Lonzo Campbell and Emma Pearl (Baker) Campbell. He married Karen S. (Baker) Campbell on May 21, 1977 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.
Owen was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He had been employed by Stark and Wetzel/Rath Meat Packing in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years. He later was a driver for the American Red Cross in Indianapolis, IN from 1990 till 1994. He was a member of Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin, IN. He was also a member of the Hoosier Appaloosa Horse Club. He enjoyed participating in rodeo’s in his younger days, trail riding, spending time with his horses, and spending time at the lake.
Survivors include his wife Karen S. (Baker) Campbell of Franklin, IN; four children Rodney L. Campbell (Karen) of Indianapolis, IN, Deby C. Phillips (Terry) of Lizton, IN, Randall L. Campbell (Diana) of Fishers, IN, and Donna C. Dunson (Lindsey) of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Ryan L. Campbell, Faith E D J Phillips, Vanessa Campbell, and Owen R. Campbell; brother Paul E. Campbell (Betty) of Williston, FL, and a sister Barbara F. Tate of Simpsonville, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Patricia L. Campbell; two brothers, Otis W. Campbell and Allen Campbell; and three sisters, Ruby Clark, Elizabeth Yates and Hazel Rusher.
The Reverend Jeff Johnson will conduct a celebration of life service 1PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Fair Haven Christian Church, 1476 West 300 South, Franklin, IN, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 10AM till service time at the church. Military honors will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Allendale, 4605 South Allendale Drive, Trafalgar, IN, 46181. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
