Obituary for Richard Lewis "Rich" Baker

Richard Lewis “Rich” Baker 76 of Franklin passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Rich was born on October 11, 1940, in Wolfforth, Texas to Bill and Doris (Cain) Baker.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Sally of Franklin, IN., children Julie Sullivan of Martinsville, IN., Cindy McKinney (Doug) of Franklin, IN., Jon Pio (Julie) of Matthews, NC., Debbie Brown (Mike) of Franklin, IN., Mark Pio (Amber) of Greenwood, IN. and Jennifer Gragg (Ray) of Indianapolis, 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his brother Dwain Baker (Mary Lue) of Lubbock, TX. and sister JoNelle Montgomery of Ft. Worth, TX.
Rich worked for 43 years at GrimmerSchmidt Compressors and Atlas Copco retiring in 2010 as Vice President. He enjoyed playing golf, sitting on the porch and watching others play golf, beach vacations, fishing and hunting when he was younger. Rich and Sally spent several winters in Florida and made many new friends from all over the globe.
The family would like to thank the ICU nurses, doctors and staff at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis for their wonderful and caring attention. Special thanks to Dr. Harry Genovely for his compassionate heart.
The Reverend Peter Jessen will conduct a memorial service celebrating the life of Richard Lewis Baker on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2PM till service time at the mortuary.
