Obituary for Roy McGaha

Roy  McGaha
Roy McGaha, 87, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was born August 29, 1929 in Christine, KY to Otis “Peck” McGaha and Lily (Burton) McGaha. He married Lula J. (Burton) McGaha on July 5, 1952 in Christine, KY, having just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Roy had worked for Cosco in Columbus, IN for forty-three years in manufacturing retiring in 1991. He was a member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church in which his parents co-founded and where he had been a song leader and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, mowing grass, sports especially basketball, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Lula J. (Burton) McGaha, children Marcia Whited (Garnet) of Greenwood, Sheila Doyle and Vickie Sinclair (David) both of Franklin, IN, Loretta Ridpath (Troy) of Edinburgh, IN, and Richard McGaha (April) of Edinburgh, IN, a daughter-in-law Jacqueline L. “Jackie” (Whited) McGaha of Franklin, IN; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Randall Lee “Randy” McGaha on January 2, 2016; brothers Edward, Osbert, Eugene, Ondia, W.E., and Vernon McGaha and a sister Eva Bryant.
The Reverends Jimmy Polston and Danny Bailey will conduct a service on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 South Main Street, in Edinburgh, IN. Friends may call Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 3-9PM at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 South Main Street, Edinburgh, IN, 46124. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
