Obituary for Libby Mae Moore

Libby Mae Moore, 92, of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday, April 06, 2017 at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, IN. She was born May 25, 1924 in Kokomo, IN to Charles and Bernice (Weaver) Harlan. She married Robert Henry “Hank” Moore, he preceded her in death on May 5, 2010. She was a 1942 graduate of Kokomo High School, received her Bachelors of Science in Biology and Bachelors of Arts from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN; her master’s degree in ceramics from Ohio State University, and her teacher’s degree from Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute, IN. She had been a designer for American Art Clay Company in Indianapolis, IN. She previously had taught elementary art for the Speedway School System for 30 years. She was a member of Roberts Park United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN past president and member of the Indianapolis Hiking Club, member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. She enjoyed teaching ceramic classes at the Franklin United Methodist Community, enjoyed hiking and reading.
Survivors include her daughter Joy L. Moore and son-in-law Dary VanDusen of Liberty Lake, WA; seven nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Norma Knoy and Barbara Morgan.
Services were private. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN, 46131 or the Johnson County Public Library, Franklin, 401 South State Street, Franklin, IN 46131.
