Obituary for Betty L. Crouse

Betty L. (Miller) Crouse, 90, of Indianapolis, IN, and former longtime resident of Greenwood, IN passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Rosewalk at Lutherwoods in Indianapolis, IN. She was born December 21, 1926 in Pike County, IN to Denzil and Lela (Williams) Miller. She married Raymond Crouse on October 1, 1951 in Bicknell, IN, he preceded her in death on March 17, 2015. She had been the safe deposit box supervisor and drive-thru teller at the National Bank of Greenwood for 26 years. She previously had worked for Moore’s Grocery in Greenwood, IN. She was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood and the Salvation Army. She had served as president of the Indiana Safe Deposit Bankers of Indiana and former president of the Business and Professional Women of Greenwood, IN and was a lifetime member of the Whiteland VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
Survivors include her son, Ralph W. Crouse (Anniemarie Gentry) of Greenwood, IN; granddaughter Jessica Belton (Jason) of Avon, IN; two great-granddaughters Emerson Belton and Sydney Belton; four sisters, Elsie Gillen of Terre Haute, IN Velma J. Jenkins of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Vaughn of New Whiteland, IN and Donna Collins (Peter) of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers Durward Miller of Washington, IN, and John Miller (Judy) of Greenwood, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, William Miller, Warren Miller, and Butheyl Miller, and an infant sibling.
Major Richard Hartman of the Salvation Army will conduct a service Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4-8PM at the mortuary. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
