Matthew A.  Strack
Matthew A. Strack, 57, of Greenwood, IN, passed away Sunday, January 08, 2017 at his residence in Greenwood, IN, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 6, 1959 in Beech Grove, IN to Francis A. and Mary Jo (Donahue) Strack. He married Jeanice S. (Foltz) Strack on October 3, 1987 in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on March 1, 1998. He then married Karlyn K. (Mitch) Strack on January 15, 2000 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.
He was a 1977 graduate of Whiteland Community High School and attended Central Nine School in Greenwood, IN. He had been employed by Rolls Royce in Indianapolis, IN for 18 years as a tool and die maker and later as a gauge inspector. He was a member of College Park Church in Indianapolis, IN. He was active in Bible studies and had a passion to minister to the suffering throughout his life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. Like his father, he was an inventor at heart, meticulous in all he did, and, like his mother, he was kind to the core.
Surviving are his wife Karlyn K. (Mitch) Strack of Greenwood, IN; children Matthew S. Strack of Indianapolis, IN, Katie M. Strack (husband Morgan Steele) of Cincinnati, OH, Emily E. Strack of Greenwood, IN, Sena M. Mortensen of Indianapolis, IN, and Mary Jo Strack of Greenwood, IN; his father Francis A. Strack of New Whiteland, IN; brothers Thomas M. Strack (Diane) of Franklin, IN, Mark A. Strack (Barbara) of Indianapolis, IN, Robert J. Strack (Leora) of Greenwood, IN, and Carl E. Strack of Brownsburg, IN; a sister Linda J. Baker (Jerry) of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law Debbie McDonald of Trafalgar, IN, sister-in-law Tami J. McNicholas of Chicago Heights, IL, sister-in-law Cheryl J. Hensley (James), father-in-law Carl J. Mitch of Homewood, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanice S. (Foltz) Strack; mother Mary Jo (Donahue) Strack; and brother Ronald McDonald, as well as his beloved labrador retriever, Nana.
Pastor Don Bartemus and Elder Nate Meece will conduct a service on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Gray Road Baptist Church, 5500 Gray Road, in Indianapolis, IN with early visitation beginning at 10am. Friends may call Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4-8PM at the church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Wheeler Mission, 205 East New York Street Indianapolis, IN, 46204 or at www.wmm.org. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin is handling the arrangements.
