William Henry "Bill"  Dewees
William Henry “Bill” DeWees, 81, of Greenwood, IN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Jackson, MS, on August 28, 1935 to the late Henry Fenton and Toy Vivian (Adelsheimer) DeWees. He married Charlotte T. (Baxter) Erp DeWees on September 23, 1991, she survives. He was retired from the insurance industry, risk control division where he had represented Grain Dealers Mutual and J M I Reports. He was very proud of being from Mississippi and was an avid Ole Miss football fan. He was a member of Indianapolis First Separate Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife Charlotte T. (Baxter) DeWees of Greenwood, son William H. DeWees Jr. of Nineveh, IN; daughter Debbie Manson of Greenwood, IN; step-daughter Lorraine Butcher of Greenwood, IN; step-son Wayne Erp of Indianapolis, IN; grandsons Michael Wilson of Yuba City, CA, and Will DeWees of Nineveh, IN; granddaughters Lauren DeWees of Indianapolis, IN, Whitney DeWees of Franklin, IN, Jessica Wilson of Greenwood, IN, and Nichole Wilson of Greenwood, step- granddaughters Katie, Cassie and Brandi Butcher all of Greenwood, IN; one great-granddaughter Niya DeWees of Bloomington, IN; and a sister Shirley Gorman (Philip) of Memphis, TN, a brother-in-law Van Tucker of Brandon MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Faye Tucker.
The Reverends Jimmy Polston and Rick Owensby will conduct a service 11 A.M., Monday, January 2, 2017 at Indianapolis First Separate Baptist Church, 25 Bixler Avenue, Indianapolis, IN . Friends may call Monday, January 2, 2016 from 9AM till service time at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis First Separate Baptist Church, 25 Bixler Avenue, Indianapolis, IN, 46227.
