Obituary for Dr. Ronald L. Hauswald

 Dr. Ronald L.  Hauswald
Ronald Lynn Hauswald, 83, of the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, IN, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 13, 1933 to Carl and Nellie (Totten) Hauswald in New Albany, IN. He graduated from New Albany High School, the University of Indianapolis, and Indiana University School of Dentistry. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years stationed at Fort Knox, KY. In 1959, he opened his dental office on Charlestown Road in New Albany, IN where he practiced for over 40 years. While in New Albany, he was a 50 year member of the New Albany Kiwanis Club, serving as president twice and once as Lieutenant Governor over the Scenic Hills Division of Kiwanis. He continued his Kiwanis service in Franklin after he and Mary moved there in 2010. He was a member of the American Dental Association and the Indiana Dental Society, serving on an Admission Committee for the Indiana University School of Dentistry for several years. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Evansville, and the University of Indianapolis. He was very active in the work of Silver Street United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years.

On June 12, 1955, he married Mary Catherine Milhouse who predeceased him on August 26, 2016. They have three children: Gregory Hauswald (Pam) of Brownsburg, IN; Jeffrey Hauswald (Kathryn) of Omaha, NE and Carol Wietholter (Kyle) of Zionsville, IN. They have 7 grandchildren: Ross Hauswald (Jamie) of Columbus, IN; Megan Calfee (Tyler) of Omaha, NE; Paul Hauswald (Krista) of Brownsburg, IN; Ashleigh Ringle (Tyler) of Waterloo, NE; Sarah Tribbett (Seth) of Indianapolis, IN; and Michael and Eric Wietholter of Zionsville, IN. Additionally, they have eight great-grandchildren. Ron is also survived by his sister-in-law Pauline Vermillion and her husband Arthur, of Indianapolis, IN, and a brother-in-law David Milhouse and his wife Martha, of Franklin, IN; and several cousins.

The Reverends Jerry Rairdon and Jenothy Rather will conduct a memorial service celebrating the life of Ron on January 2, 2017 at 11:30 am at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 East Adams Street, Franklin, IN, 46131. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 9:30–11:30 am at the church. Inurnment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Albany, IN.
