Obituary for Thomas K. Vassar

Thomas K. Vassar, 74, of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday, December 08, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. He was born July 13, 1942 in East Chicago, IN to Myles Vassar and Ethel (Rohl) Vassar. He married Nancy L. (Swan) Vassar on August 23, 1980 in Cedar Lake, IN, she survives.
He retired from AT&T after 38 years of service in 2003 as a systems technician. He was a United States Marine Veteran. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake, IN.
Survivors include his wife Nancy L. (Swan) Vassar of Franklin, IN; two daughters Tammie Vassar Stauss (Matthew) of Winston Salem, NC, and Megan Vassar Osborne (Barry) of Franklin, IN; two grandchildren Madelyn Osborne and Caroline Osborne; a third grandchild, grandson Crosby Thomas Stauss due in April 2017, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Vassar.
Father Ed Tlucek O.F.M. will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, December 12th, 2016 at 10AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 11000 West 133rd Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN. Friends may call Sunday, December 11th, 2016 from 3-8PM at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Avenue in Cedar Lake, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling local arrangements. Information at www.swartzmortuary.com.
