Nell P.  Tearman Monroe (Sewell)
Nell P. (Sewell) Tearman Monroe, 79, of the Franklin United Methodist Community, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was born March 26, 1937 in Chattaroy, West Virginia to Reverend Emmett Sewell and Blanch (West) Sewell. She married Bill Monroe May 9, 2009 at the Franklin United Methodist Community, he survives.
Nell was a 1955 graduate of Raceland-Worthington High School in Raceland, KY. Nell started her career with the United States Postal Service in 1966 as a clerk at the Ashland, KY post office, she then later became the PAR coordinator for the U.S. Postal Service in Indianapolis, IN where she counseled drug addiction and alcoholics, then becoming Postmaster at the Frankfort, IN U.S. Post Office and finally the Greenwood, IN U.S. Post Office retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #439 in Franklin, IN and New Life Baptist Church in Franklin, IN.
Survivors include her husband Bill Monroe of Franklin, IN, sisters Carol Hall of Franklin, IN and Pricilla Muslin of Bellville, MI; a brother Emmett W. Sewell of Ypsilanti, MI; stepchildren Tamie Richard of Indianapolis, IN, Tina Rush of Fairland, IN, Lee Ann Vick (Butch) of Nineveh, IN, Shanna Young (Red) of Sylvester, GA, Perry Monroe (Amy) of Beech Grove, IN; fourteen step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Joyce Sewell; brothers J.W. Sewell, David M. Sewell; and one grandchild.
The Reverend Rick Henry will conduct a service Friday, November 18, 2016 at 1PM at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Friday at the Wright Chapel from 11AM till service time. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1PM at Solomon Perry Cemetery near Dunlow, West Virginia. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN, 46131, New Life Baptist Church, P.O.
