Eleanor J. (Mayers) Orcutt, 92, of Greenwood, IN, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Greenwood, IN. She was born May 28, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to Harry Xavier Mayers and Marion Veronica (Drenken) Mayers. She married Norman Eugene Orcutt on September 15, 1945, he preceded her in death on February 18, 2000. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Greenwood, IN and formerly St. John’s Parish Catholic Church in Olean, NY. She always carried her rosary beads. Eleanor enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, working crossword puzzles and watching Mother Angelica on EWTN. Her passions were feeding the fish and ducks on her pond at home, and attending or listening to any sporting events her grandchildren or great-grandchildren played. She loved watching the birds, loved dogs, and was one of the Buffalo Bills biggest fans.
Survivors include her children; Thomas N. Orcutt (Rose) of Olean, NY, Robert Orcutt (Elizabeth) of Olean, NY, Norma J. Skaruppa (Steve) of Greenwood, IN, and Michael J. Orcutt (Kim) of Lake Sherwood, MO; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Robert Mayers and Harry Mayers; and a great-grandson Tate Matthew Flick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John’s Parish Catholic Church in Olean, NY. Friends may call Saturday November 5, 2016 from 12:30 P.M. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in St. Bonaventure, NY. Memorial contributions and flowers may be sent to St. Johns Parish Catholic Church in Olean, NY.
