Elton "E.T."  Thompson
Elton “E.T.” Thompson 94 of the Franklin United Methodist Community passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Community Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born January 3, 1922 in Indianapolis to John Wallace Thompson and Bessie Bruce (Whitley) Thompson. He married Emma (Hoffman) Thompson, she preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Mabel M. (Eltzroth) Thompson on June 13, 1981 in Indianapolis. He received his master’s degree in engineering from Purdue University. He had been an engineer for General Motors in Indianapolis for seventeen years. He previously had served as an engineer for J.D. Adams and Company in Indianapolis. He was a WWII United States Army Air Corps Veteran where he was a member of the 330th Bombardment Squadron 93rd Bomb Group having served in Normandy, northern France and Rhineland, and was also a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Franklin American Legion Post #205, was a seventy three year member of the Masonic Lodge having entered Indianapolis Lodge #669 in 1943 and currently a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #107, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and the Purdue Alumni Association. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. Survivors include his wife Mabel M. (Eltzroth) Thompson of Franklin and twenty four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma (Hoffman) Thompson, and a sister. Friends may call Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 2-7PM at the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community 1070 West Jefferson Street in Franklin where Franklin Masonic Lodge #107 will conduct a masonic service at 7PM. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10AM till service time at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. The Reverend Jenothy Rather and Dr. William Ted Murphy will conduct a service Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church 1300 E. Adams Street in Franklin. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Indiana with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church 1300 East Adams Street Franklin, Indiana 46131. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin is handling the arrangements.
