Obituary for Phyllis Joan Kelso (Wilham)

Phyllis Joan (Wilham) Kelso, 86, of Greenwood, IN passed away Saturday, June 04, 2016 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born February 23, 1930 in Beech Grove, IN to A. Delbert and Mildred Janet (Kephart) Wilham. She married Robert H. Kelso on June 10, 1949 at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, IN, he preceded her in death on April 5, 2013.
She was a 1948 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis, IN. She had been employed by judgement section for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the State of Indiana for ten years. She was a fifty year member and past Worthy Matron at Union Village Oder of the Eastern Star #584 and a member of the Imperial Council Shrine Guild of America where she was a member and past president of the Kasbah Dancers unit. She also was a member of the Alexander Hamilton Daughters of the American Revolution, Indiana Chapter 4003, where she was past regent. She and her late husband were members of the Johnson County Shrine Club, where they belonged to the Johnson County Hillbillies. She also had served as precinct committeewoman for White River One precinct.
Survivors include her daughter Ru Ann Hitz and son-in-law Roger of Greenwood, IN; two grandchildren R.D. Hitz (Keri) of Bargersville, IN and Lydia Marti Hitz of Greenwood, IN; three great-grandchildren Zachary Hitz, Kaitlyn Hitz, and Elijah Hitz all of Bargersville, IN; and one sister Susie Dearth (Carl) of Bargersville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The Reverend Stan Icenogle will conduct a service Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 4-8PM at the mortuary where Union Village Order of the Eastern Star #584 will conduct a service at 8PM, followed by a service to be conducted by the Imperial Council Shrine Guild. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in White River Township.
