Obituary for Bertram Van Breemen

Bertram Van Breemen, 96, of Franklin, IN, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. He was born May 26, 1919 in Zion, IL to John and Alice (Maltby) Van Breemen. He married Pauline Elizabeth (Wales) Van Breemen on September 1, 1940, in Heminger, North Dakota. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2014.

He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was an optical engineer, inventor and musician.

Survivors include his daughters, Dorothy Alice Van Breemen of Franklin, IN, Ellen Kay Van Breemen of Reno, NV, and Linda Annette Blazer (Joseph E.) of Franklin, IN; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evangeline Brooks, of Logansport, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons Charles Van Breemen and John L. Van Breemen; three brothers, Verne L. Van Breemen, Victor Van Breemen, and infant David Van Breemen; and three sisters Elizabeth A. Bohnstadt, Claire Van Breemen Downes, and infant Jesse Joyce Van Breemen.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 10AM till 12 Noon at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. A graveside service will follow at 3PM at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, IN 47250. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.swartzmortuary.com.
