Obituary for Lance F. Deer

Lansing F. “Lance” Deer, of Whiteland, IN and lifelong Johnson County resident passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. He was born August 22, 1930 in Franklin, IN to Judson F. Deer and Mildred H. (Henderson) Deer. He married Patricia (Allen) Deer on October 25, 1958 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church, she survives.
He was a 1948 graduate of the Franklin Community High School in Franklin, IN and 1952 graduate of Hanover College. He was the owner and operator of Deer and Son Hardware in Franklin for thirty-five years. He was a past member of Franklin Rotary, past president of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce, Franklin Masonic Lodge #107, and Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, and the Knights of Malta. He was also a member of the Classic Car Club of America and Franklin Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife Patricia (Allen) Deer of Whiteland, IN; a daughter Dr. Lois Ann Deer-Ascough (Jim) of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a son Bruce Allen Deer (Melinda) of Benton, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Carson Deer, Mahala Logue both of Arkansas, Thomas Ascough and Katie Ascough both of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and a sister Carolyn Walters of Bargersville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Reverend John Eley will conduct a service Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, 46131. Friends may call Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 9AM till service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
